Here south is too strong for 2 . An alternative is 3  showing a six-card suit and a better than minimum hand. 

North also doubles, which can be based on a very wide range hand. Anything from around 8+ hcp and no biddable long suit up to many game forcing hands. South's rebid in a major shows a strong hand as does north going past 3 NT. With a more moderate hand without a heart fit north could bid 3  (to investigate 3 NT) or 3 NT. 

With good diamonds north jumps to slam hoping for two aces in the strong hand partner has shown.
