Here west's pass is an offer to play in 2 ♦. Not everyone will play this way and there are alternatives. From the multi side after our multi has been doubled one possibility is to play:
Pass as an offer to play 2 ♦.
Redouble requesting opener bid 2 ♥ and west will then bid a suit to play.
2 ♥ is pass or correct.
As a variation it is possible to swap the meanings of redouble and 2 ♥ (or any other suit).
North has a good six-card suit, there are no guarantees in life and bridge but opposite a likely balanced hand we are probably not running into east's suit.
